The song called I still Get jealous is related to the chatacter Tom from "The Great Gatsby".
This relation can be seen since the moment that Tom seem jealous beacuse of Tom and Daisy's relationship, due to the fact that Tom did no want to lose his two women and stay all alone. Eventhough he wanted to keep his women, what he worried the most was to be outdone by a new rich. a person without the tittles and positions he did have.

Gatsby´s "twin"
I had been thinking in Gatsby´s characteristics and trying to relate it with another guy, but it is really hard.
This problem lasted until I thought about a lady in my previous neighborhood. She seem to be nice, sweet and pretty, full of friends and loved by everyone; eventhough, when you saw all those great characteristics about her, you knew that she couldn´t be so amazing and perfect.
When I grew a little bit more, I understood that she had kind of complex business by her dad´s side because her father always had big black cars and boyguards, o at least that was the image that her whole family and close people gave.

Paraphrasing exercise
3. "Of the more than 1000 bicycling deaths each year, three-fourths are caused by head injuries. Half of those killed are school-age children. One study concluded that wearing a bike helmet can reduce the risk of head injury by 85 percent. In an accident, a bike helmet absorbs the shock and cushions the head. From "Bike Helmets: Unused Lifesavers," Consumer Reports (May 1990): 348."
Paraphrase:
According to the magazine "Bike Helmets: Unused Lifesavers", most of the deaths of bicycling are because people don´t use a helmet. This element is very important due to the protection it provides to the head and it could also prevent death.
Page paraphrase :
The use of a helmet is the key to reducing bicycling fatalities, which are due to head injuries 75% of the time. By cushioning the head upon impact, a helmet can reduce accidental injury by as much as 85%, saving the lives of hundreds of victims annually, half of whom are school children ("Bike Helmets" 348)

Midngith in Paris
Remembering one of the most great moments of my life
I was in one of my most exited trips to Paris, the most beautiful place specially when it is raining. What I remember the best is the first night the car picked me up and took me to the 1920s. There, before I could understood what was going on and recognize Zelda and Scott Fitzgerald, I felt pretty weird because the manners of my close people were different. Nevertheless, at the moment they told me who they were, I couldn´t believe
it! I think you can imagina that was one of the best instants in my entire life, where I started asking if the life I had was what I really wanted.
When I continued having a life that showed me both sides from the ones I could take my decision, I thought about the amazing people I met and how was my life going to change, if I was able to make my own decision without taking into account anyone else.
This was a small percentage of my big decision of knowing the people from 1920s. I was able to spend time with my favorite writers and a gorgeous lady named Ines. In addition, I tried to learn to live like them, but I constantly thought about my "real" present with my fiance. What I tried to do was to find a balance between all the wonders and great characteristics of the 1920s and my actual life, from the one I couldn´t scape.
I tried to look for a woman, she would be spontaneous, independent and would have knowledge about fashion or ways that made her be on top of everyone.
I know these are a lot of requierments, but the 1920s were the ones that made me happy, but I had responsabilities in my present. So I stayed in Paris in the present trying to find characteristics that revived my love an passion for one of the best periods in history.

American Dream
My definition of the American Dream is:
"An ideal of the USA citizens in which is reflected their desire of freedom, individuality, wealth and also their hope of success with their effort and hard work. With these characteristics people are going to reach and live a happy life."
research:
* " ...the American Dream means freedom in all of its dimensions and equality as well as equal opportunity and a whole package of basic rights including the right to vote. It means democracy not dictatorship. It means personal responsibility and also responsibility of the community for individuals to provide services that the individual alone cannot provide. It means a rule of just law, protection from violence and social justice for all. It also means hard work at a fair wage, an opportunity to own a home, start a business and get ahead. Each generation of Americans has always believed it had a responsibility to make life better for their children and to leave the world in a better place than they found it." (http://www.whyhunger.org/about-why/the-american-dream.html)
* "The term “American Dream” is used in a number of ways, but essentially the American Dreamis an idea which suggests that all people can succeed through hard work, and that all people have the potential to live happy, successful lives. Many people have expanded upon or refined the definition of the American Dream, and this concept has also been subject to a fair amount of criticism. Many people believe that the structure of American society belies the idealistic goal of the American Dream, pointing to examples of inequality rooted in class, race, and ethnic origin which suggest that the American Dream is not attainable for all." (http://www.wisegeek.com/what-is-the-american-dream.htm)
* "Traditionally, Americans have sought to realise the American dream of success, fame and wealth through thrift and hard work. However, the industrialisation of the 19th and 20th centuries began to erode the dream, replacing it with a philosophy of "get rich quick". A variety of seductive but elusive strategies have evolved, and today the three leading ways to instant wealth are large-prize television game shows, big-jackpot state lotteries and compensation lawsuits..." America´s definition
Taking into account the definitions made in class and the song "somos mas americanos", the definition that would be appropiate would be:
A continent that was divided by men into many states. Theses states that separate men make it different, without taking into account that the Americans are the people that have in their veins the natives blood. What this clarifies is the idea that people have about America´s definition because most of the world´s population think that America refers ONLY to USA. Nevertheless, America refers to the whole continent and its population.

Are the 20s truly the American Dream?
According to a research on the internet (http://www.learner.org/biographyofamerica/prog20/feature/page05.html), the 20's was a period which had positive and negative aspects that makes it difficult to desing as the accomplishment of the American Dream or its failure. Some of the positive aspects were that economic growth, cars became popular, the communication media grew, women got the right to be recognized as a citizen and the increase of the Gross national product. On the other side, the negative aspects was the alcohol prohibition and the stock crash, the rural poverty and the resurgence of the Ku Klux Klan.
One of the facts that brought them waelth or prosperity was the economic improvement, because that encouraged people to buy cars, appliances and devices. Cars' bussiness kept a continiuos growing becuase people had more money to spend. Also they changed the concept of city due to the overpopulation by creating the suburbs. The growth of the communication was evident in the development of entertainment specially in radios and movies that passed from silent to talkie, which created a new culture based on fashion.
Other of the most important positive aspects, was the recognition of women rights and that gave them liberty and individuality.
By the other side, one negative aspect was the prohibition of the alcohol, which brought the traffickers and the violence. And anoter not fruitful fect was the downturn that occured in the building industry that occured during 1925.
Taking into account these caracteristics, is appropiate to say that the 1920s had both, positive and negative aspects, what made difficult to decide if it could be considered as the accomplishment of the American Dream. Nevertheless, there are more positive characteristics that evidence that this moment can be considerated what america has dreamed.
